This pastel painting of the village of Chilham in Kent, England is one of the more advanced kits from Colin Bradley, which uses 15 pastel pencils. The original version of this painting that I did was actually used as the cover for a book, along with the winter version Chilham in the Snow. You can find out more in my NEWS section. (You can find more such pieces in my Learning Curve Gallery, which showcases the start of my pastel pencil journey.)
This version is a reworking that I did when I decided that I needed to get back into doing the pastel pencil artwork again after a tough time. I was so out of practice that I decided to start by revisiting some familiar paintings, just to see whether I could still do them. This was one of the ones I chose since I no longer had the original version. The other difference was that I wanted to try out different pastel paper types as well as some different brands of pastel pencils that I had acquired over the years but not done much with.
