While learning the techniques of pastel pencil, I did a couple of fantasy-style paintings that were based on paintings by other artists. But I haven't been able to track down the artist for this one to credit them with the inspiration. Can you help?

This painting was based on one I found in an issue of DRAGON®, the magazine of the well-known role-playing game, Dungeons & Dragons®. It's from an issue released about 1995 but I can't be certain. If anyone knows who the original artist is, I'd appreciate it if you'd let me know.

I've always enjoyed 'swords and sorcery' fantasy and used to roleplay quite regularly in the '80s and '90s before I moved away from the group I played the game with. The artwork that was around at the time was just brilliant and when I got back into art again I wanted to do some myself. While I was learning my techniques, I decided to replicate this painting to see if such subjects suited my style and the pastel medium before creating some of my own artwork. But the original I based this on was not in mint condition and I couldn't read the artist's signature. So if anyone knows who it is, I'd love to know.
