This pastel painting of the Eurasian Lynx came about by happy coincidence. I came across the photograph on which this painting was based (BBC Wildlife magazine article by Partick Barkham) at almost exactly the same time as my own, slightly less exotic tabby cat woke up and had a morning stretch in a similar pose. Difficult to resist the fates there. Apart from a couple of reworked paintings done to get back into painting again after a long hiatus, this is one of the last paintings that I did on Fabriano Ingres paper. By this point, I’d come across some better surfaces to use and began to experiment with those.
