This was the first of a ‘series’ of paintings I wanted to call 'Bird on a Perch', but it hasn’t really developed into a series yet. I wanted these pastel paintings to feature many different kinds of birds, but since I love birds of prey, I decided to start with one and chose to do this peregrine falcon. This was completed as a sort of homework for the art group that I used to attend until it was disbanded in early 2012 when the tutor retired. At least this got into the end of year class exhibition in 2011.
The 'Bird on a Perch' series is still in mind and will include paintings of birds on tree stumps, washing lines, flowers, branches and many other perches.
